Teacher Certification Program for College Graduates (TCPCG)

One Year

Full time

Day classes

Earn CT Teacher Certification for grades 7 – 12 & M.A. in Education

The program is offered at the West Hartford or Waterbury campus

Certification areas
English
Math
History/Social Studies
Science
Agriculture
World Languages (French, German, Spanish, Italian or Latin)
Special Education (Grades K – 12) West Hartford campus only

A new program starts every Summer and continues through the Fall and Spring semesters.
(This program cannot be done on a part time basis and starts in Summer Session I only)

Applications are accepted from September 1 – December 1 for the following Summer Online application and the list of application materials can be found at the Graduate School website under Prospective Students.

Program Requirements

Undergraduate degree in subject area you want to teach.
or
Undergraduate degree in unrelated subject area with required credits in the subject area you want to teach Most subject areas require a minimum of 36 credits

Refer to Transcript Evaluation Form (attached)

Praxis I exam

Praxis II exam
World Language applicants take ACTFL instead of Praxis II

U.S. History course

Physical Education or Health class If you do not have one of these classes, a one day CPR class is offered to TCPCG to fulfill this requirement
